WHY DO PROFESSIONAL PHOTOS?
Photos – and why are they so important.
Greetings and thank you for enquiring into your professional branding with a photoshoot.
This year we celebrate 28 years of being in this agency business.
Gosh, it has been a long time, hey!
Every day we use photos: 10 hours a day, 7 days a week, we are looking at faces.
We go to dinner and we look for special looks and faces, whilst shopping for eggs, we look at faces.
Therefore, when it comes to photos, we appreciate more than most as to why they are so important.
Photos are getting your foot in the door so clients can click on your video.
Take the agent’s advice: many people won’t use the agency photographer.
Regardless of the agency you are invited to join, use their photographer.
Those specially qualified professional photographers and their teams know what the clients want and it blows my mind that people think they are saving money by using their next door neighbour’s cousin who shot a wedding in the 80’s or they ask us if they can use their partner to take photos as she has a great camera and is doing a course…?
The answer is always yes.
But secretly, we know you will lose the opportunity of at least $20K to $50K in auditions over a year, whilst their photos get tested and proven they don’t work.
Why even join an agency if you’re not going to be professional?
Remember, pro photos get your foot in the door, then you need to win the job.
Get skilled up. Get videos too. Again professional ones.
Don’t just think you can roll up to a job and know how to take photos good enough for a client to hire you?
The answer is: we are watching and looking for people who are trained and training so we can impress our clients with quality talent.
That is why you should stay with an agency for years.
You have to develop into the market and get to know people.
Listen to your bookers regardless of what agency you join.
Invest in the best you can afford.
Get great photos and training.
Now, if you’re not prepared to do that, that is ok, you are welcome in the extras division.
Extras don’t need pro shots, although they also help. However for acting and modelling you need to be ready and as a minimum, professional.
Our advice is: book a photoshoot that you can afford and get trained.
Use your agency as a way for them to get to know you and advise you over years.
Best not to join the agency to act or model if you’re not prepared to be professional. We love what we do and really are very proud of our agency and talent base.
It is tough to get work out there.

As we charge 11% to 22% commission, we will do 11% to 22% of the work. You have to do and pay for the rest yourself.
